okay guys. we're not really dead yet. just that mugging is draining our souls away. im missing out so much on blogging these days. some random stuff:

Sometimes the sciences are really hilariously stupid.

here's some stuff that ive gathered over the past weeks being a science student.

first, there's physics. physics teachers are the most meticulous people ever. they seem to have this insatiable urge to pick out every single detail about written work. for example, there are the significant figures (s.f.'s) as a physics student, you HAVE to leave your numerical answers in the correct sf to get the marks. additionally, you also have to JUSTIFY the number of sf's you give.

so when the KI teacher is asking her students, "so how do you justify the killing of these hundreds of animals for research purposes?"

... mr tan is asking us, "so how do you justify 3 sf? why not 2 sf? or 2 dp?"

(and what's the point making a fuss over the number of significant figures!!?)

then there's andre su and his debate with the chem teacher ms geraldine ng on the high precision of the electronic balance.

(background info: the electronic balance in the chemistry lab weighs up to ten-thousandths of a gram. that's 0.1 mg.)

andre su went: "so if its so accurate there will also be problems right? like it can weigh the dust particles in the air."

ms ng: "so how would it make a difference?"

andre: "like for example the dust will make the sample weigh 0.001 grams more."

*everyone looks at andre and laughs*

i bet if any arts student joined a science class for a day, he/she would just laugh at the hopelessness of jc science. sighs.
